Renowned Belgian Progressive House artist duo Pedro Mercado & Karada unveil their highly anticipated album “#100” on Chrom Recordings!

We proudly present our hundredth Chrom release !!! The attentive followers of our label might have noticed that we had skipped this number because in the mean while we reached already catalogue number 108. Reaching release number 100 is a huge milestone that we simply could not ignore, so we had to do something really special, and this took some time. But the result is more than worth it: is a 10-track album from our own label manager Pedro Mercado and his fixed studio partner Karada, aptly called “#100” !

Since the start of Chrom Recordings, Pedro Mercado has had not less than exactly 100 appearances on our label, of which 37 in collaboration with Karada! This resulted in many original tracks, several EP’s and a lot of remixes. We collected their 7 leading originals over the 7 years we exist, and bundled them into 1 album. In addtion to these, the duo created 3 brand-new tracks to make the album complete. One of those new ones is the opening track “Panorama”, a metaphore for their oeuvre on Chrom Recordings and another great example of their own unique sound: always catchy, always melodic, without following hypes, but with the aim to create timeless masterpieces!

The story of our label head Pedro Mercado is well know by now: Belgian DJ with an impressive national and international DJ career since 1996. The story of producer Geert Thirry aka Karada started  back in 2003 when “Last Flight” was released under the alias Karada on the mighty Lost Language recordings, sublabel of the famous UK-label Hooj Choons. The track was released on vinyl and was remixed by Markus Shulz and Robert Nickson (Armada). The debut was set and the track was played all around the world. It was even charted on the BBC radio 1 dance charts. In the years that followed, he also had a release (in collaboration with Merayah) on the Dutch Spinnin’ Records, with a 12” license from the Italian record company Net’s work international from Napoli, plus an exclusive track on the famous Buddha bar CD compilation “ Little Buddha 3 “ from George V Paris.

In 2008 Karada met fellow countryman Pedro Mercado. Being from the same region in Belgium, and having the same musical background (the golden era of the Belgian New Beat, Acid & Trance scene) they immediately clicked, and Karada took Pedro under his wings in his studio. Their first cooperation was “Something Phat”, which was released in 2009 on Creamminal Records, a sublabel of Bonzai, and got remixed by Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike in their early days. In 2011 Pedro Mercado & Karada scored an Ibiza hit with “Hallelujaaahhh”, which was released on La Factoria, the label of Wally Lopez. In 2012 they got their first vinyl release with “Behind the Sun“ on Gold Records, a sublabel of the Berlin based Kling Klong Records from Martin Eyerer. This track got remixed by Rodriguez Jr & Shadow Child, Darius Syrossian played it in his Essential Mix on BBC radio 1, it was included on the famous Ibiza KM5 compilation-CD, etc

Many successful releases followed, on respected labels from all over the world: Parquet, Krafted, Frequenza, Particles, Proton, Awen, Deeperfect, Go Deeva, Natura Viva, Dear Deer, Beatfreak, Manual and many others. They got remixed by Rauschhaus, Tash, Peter Makto & Gregory S, Hannes Wiehager, Vanita, Nihil Young, Jimmy Van M, Erdi Irmak, Stefano Richetta, Lake Avalon, Monkey Brothers, DkA, Vijay & Sofia Zlatko, … and did remixes themselves for Martin Eyerer, Anturage, George Privatti, Stas Drive, Aves Volare, Wally Lopez, Eleven Of July, Christian Bonori, Jaap Lighthart, Pauke Schaumburg, Tim Penner and many more…

In 2017 Pedro Mercado founded his own label Chrom Recordings together with Mike Chrom from Planet Ibiza. Since then Pedro & Karada mainly release their collabs on Chrom. In addition Pedro had some releases in collaboration with other people too, on other labels such as ICONYC and MUKKE. Also Karada is having his own projects: since 2022 he also works under his own Dub Techno alias ‘The Open Circle’ with numerous digital releases and also some vinyl releases, and he runs his own label ‘Lost Entity’ which stands for electronic experimental music.
